In a tiny corner storefront is a Philadelphia hidden gem of a restaurant, operated by Pierre Calmels of the famed Le Bec-Fin restaurant and his wife, Charlotte. Bibou, their joint operation, is a cash-only, BYOB establishment that serves up some great food, despite being not so flexible in its acceptance of payment.
Chef Calmels has a small menu, but that doesn’t mean it’s short on flavor or freshness. He does his own baking and butchering and everything on the menu is painstakingly prepared to perfection. Fro the pan-seared scallops with hearts of palm to the braised pig feet or the seared snapper, there’s a dish for everyone.
Don’t forget to bring your favorite bottle of wine!
