Cuccagna is a bar affectionately called "the cheap bar" by local American students. It's on a side street (called Via della Cuccagna) at the bottom of Piazza Navona, and on any given night you'll find tons of Italian youths and others milling around outside sipping on cocktails that they purchased for -- MAXIMUM -- 4 euro inside. They make stiff drinks if you ask politely, and the staff is always friendly. The best part is once you get your drink you can either hang out and socialize with the locals or walk up and enjoy the magnificent Piazza Navona while you sip on a delicious cocktail. Note their vast selection of margaritas, variations on the Long Island Iced Tea, and other original creations on the menu.
Transport information and advice
Take the bus to Corso Vittorio Emmanuele, then get off and ask for Piazza Navona. Once you're in the piazza, face the big church, turn left, and walk past the fountain with the gods blowing horns with water flowing out of them. The street that leads out of the end of the piazza is Via della Cuccagna -- bear right at the split in the road and at any time after about 10 pm on weekends you won't miss the big crowd of people standing outside Cuccagna.
