Not only do you get to climb to the very top of the bell tower at St. Anne's, but you also get to pretend to be Quasimodo by ringing the bells. Your self-guided tour takes you up level by level...each climb getting a bit more treacherous than the last.
On one level you can pull the cables that actually ring the bells. There you can actually play just about any song...they even have some songs handy in case you're not a musical prodigy.
A little higher up and you need to put on the ear protection provided as you climb around the actual bells...then it's up and over to the passage that takes you to the roof where you get to look out over the city of Cork.
Transport information and advice
It's an uphill hike from city centre...cabs, buses and the Hop On/Off bus can also get you there.
