Oh yes, I've been trapped in travel hell.

Ever been stuck on a bus full of hot, whining tourists and seen a gorgeous Italian go by on a Vespa, glossy hair blowing in the wind, a fabulous picnic in the sidecar? Of course you have! But no more. From now on, you're the one in the sidecar, baby, balancing that feast on your happy knees and heading for a sun-kissed Tuscan meadow.

Because if everyone does their job here, we're all going to find out where to rent that Vespa, buy that picnic lunch and maybe even meet that gorgeous Italian!

I started this site so we'd all stop missing the good stuff
I was inspired to create this site by the sad case of a glamorous friend who went to Paris. Shortly after her return, I had gone to the City of Lights myself and, since I've had a lifelong fear of missing something great, I hadn't just followed the guidebooks. I did tons of research and found - before the Internet! - all sorts of unique and brilliant off-the-beaten track things to do there.

My friend and I later had lunch to share our Paris stories. I assumed that being such a fashionista, she would certainly have found out about the free weekly fashion show I had enjoyed - sipping my free Perrier, and pretending I had money. So I asked if she had been to the show.

She practically screamed with frustration!
You've got to picture her reaction. She stared at me stunned for a moment. Then she babbled some soup out of her mouth. Then she did a sort of body language version of 'Waaaaaah!'

Honestly, is it my fault I have better radar for finding super fun adventures than most people?

Years later, I'm relating this story to another friend who grew up in Paris. Her parents were in the fashion business so they know that scene inside and out. And I end the tale with a big dramatic: Can you believe she didn't know about the free fashion show?!

My Parisian friend looked at me slyly. "Fashion show," she smiled. "Where?"

Well, at least she didn't say 'Waaaaah!'
